More challenges for 2012

Missionary nurses join Children’s Health Congress

BAGUIO CITY – Together with the close to thousand kids, guardians and parents in the North Philippine Union Conference, officers and field nurse missionaries of the Global Ministries of Missionary Nurses attended the NPUC’ s Children Health Congress held at Navy Base Road, Baguio City, April 15-19, 2010.

Pastor Abe T. Carpena, health ministries director of the Southern Asia Pacific Division talked on the topic, “The generation of endangered species.” He emphasized various needs of the children in today’s fast paced world. These needs must be met in order to prevent them from getting into what we call a “dysfunction society.”

In order to raise healthy kids for Jesus, Pastor Abe pointed out that parental closeness must be developed, encourage these children to be involved in positive activities, encourage positive peer pressure, build up a shaky self-image, promote sexual, drug, and alcohol restraint, promote a positive school environment, help to foster a spiritual life, and be an example of healthy lifestyle.

“Let us rescue these children,” Pastor Abe said.

Missionary nurses coming from different places in the Philippines help in assessing hundreds of children during their physical check-ups in the Baguio Adventist Clinic.

Four of these nursing are coming to Palawan next month to start their one year community exposure serving in two different projects, municipalities of Brooke’s and Aborlan.

Jerrani N. Abando, Efraim M. Niñalga, Jaspere John E. Delos Reyes, and BJ L. Paredes are the four nurses who are joining the field project.

Also present was Alison R. Rivera, president of GMMN, and Harthwell C. Capistrano, program director of the Mission Field Project.

With the theme, Healthy Children for Jesus, the event was led by Dr. Lhalaine C. Alfanoso, director of the health ministries department, NPUC. Mrs. Cynthia M. Faigao, health director of the Palawan Adventist Mission, and several other health and children’s directors in the Union joined the event.
