The Founders

The GMMN Founders. (L-R) Harthwell Capistrano, Alison Rivera, Von Carlo Hechanova, Billy Roman

It all started with a friendship online. Having the same passion in the ministry, four nurses planned to publish a devotional book for nurses. While they were conducting writing seminars and workshops in various locations in the Philippines, they decided to formally name their group into Global Ministries of Missionary Nurses. Harthwell C. Capistrano, Billy G. Roman, Alison R. Rivera & Von Carlo L. Hechanova pioneered the first and so far the only active nurse missionary group in Philippines and Asia. Founded in December 2008 and organized in January 2009, GMMN is an organization of young Filipino nurses who have the passion and calling in leading fellow nurses to helping people in remote and rural areas in meeting their health and spiritual needs. GMMN is registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Republic of the Philippines on January 12, 2010, and in Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on May 6, 2010 as non-stock, not for profit corporation.
